August 2011 Newsletter
Dear [FIRSTNAME], It's been a few months since our newsletter has been sent out and much has happened since then. First of all, I want to thank everyone who is participating in our community program to save on energy supplier costs and most importantly to those who are also purchasing Clean Renewable Energy through Sterling Planet. I have just been informed that Starion Energy is in the process of providing all members in Woodstock a discounted rate of .0899 cents per kWh with a one year agreement. Currently all members are on a variable rate and the current rate is at .0989 cents. Many of our members have been solicited by other suppliers promising lower fees of .0889 cents which warranted a call to Starion for competitive pricing. They came forward with their promise to be competitive. So, be patient while we get the rate change processed for everyone. Members may need to submit their approval for a one year agreement if I can't do this across the board. I'll keep everyone posted. Our Solar installations for Woodstock have just about been completed. I think the Elementary School is the last to receive their 9 kW system due to the recent completed shingle replacement of the 4 room classroom building. This will make 5 locations in Woodstock where solar panels have been installed FREE of any costs. They are as follows: - Town Hall 9 kW ground mount solar system (rear of the building)
- Volunteer Fire Station, Rte 169 - 9 kW roof mount solar system
- Highway Garage, Coatney Hill Rd - 9 kW ground mount solar system
- Elementary School, Frog Pond Rd. - 9 kW roof mount solar system (4 room classroom building)
- Middle School, Rte 169 - 4 kW roof mount solar system
Please feel free to stop by these locations to view the systems and watch this video to learn about how these systems generate solar energy from the sun. The solar installations were provided by DCS Energy out of Glastonbury CT and remain FREE for any municipality until December of this year. Very affordable programs are also available for homeowners and many Woodstock residents have already had solar systems installed and benefiting Clean Renewable Energy. If you've been thinking about installing solar panels to your home, I recommend contacting DCS Energy and have them come out and review your site. Roof mounts only take a few days to install. We encourage everyone to send us your photos of your solar installations and we'll lost them in our Solar Gallery.
Lastly, I have added a new resource page to our website, thanks to the American Planning Association, which will be very informative to other communities looking to put together regulations for Solar Energy through your local Planning and Zoning Commission. Click here for more information.
If you would like to enroll in our Clean Renewable Energy Program, contact me and we'll get you signed up or click here to apply.
Warmest Regards,
